Fantail Goldfish

   Bubble-eye with Dorsal Fin

Fantail goldfish with bubble eyes is valuable and popular . Below the eyeball , it has semi-transparent bubble filled with liquid , that's why it got its name . Bubbles could be divided into two types : one is "small bubble " or "hard bubble ",which projects out of the eye frame and is not so big , And also the goldfish with "small bubble "has a broad and triangular head . The other is "big bubble " or "soft bubble" . The bubble is beautiful and just looks like two lanterns hanging at two sides . It is very charming the bubbles float around when goldfish is swimming . The fry of bubble eye has normal eyes . As the fish grows , the bubble presses the eyeballs upward and becomes bigger and bigger . So the gravity of fish moves forward because of its big bubble and short body ,which makes the fish often stay at the bottom .

The membrane of bubble is thin and easy to be punctured . If the liquid flows out , the eyeballs will move downward . When the wound heals , the liquid-filled sack can't resume , thus loses its value for enjoyment . To avoid possible injury to goldfish's bubbles , aquarium tank should not be placed with pointed coral or pebbles and filters should be equipped with shelter net .

The standard goldfish with bubbles should have a pair of symmetrical bubbles , big fins and keep good equilibrium .

The goldfish with bubble-eyes were first recorded in 1925 by ChenZhen.
