Fantail Goldfish


   Celestial-Eye Dorsal Fin (sky-gazing or eyes toward sky)

      Main features : spherical eyes protruding from the head . New-borne fries have normal eyes , but three or four months later the eyeballs move to be vertically 90 degrees and be directly against the sky . The fish with eyeballs turning forward or aside fish are unqualified . The standard goldfish of celestial eyes should be :

    1.Two eyes gazing at the sky;
    2.With big and regular eyeballs;
    3.Round and smooth body;
    4.With regular fins and a big , broad tails .

    Owing to the fish's eyes only looking upward , its sight is limited to the upper part and it is weak hunting for food . It has to catch food through smelling and tasting .

    Goldfish with celestial eyes was first recorded in 1904 by Old man Zhuoyuan in his book "fine collection of Insects and fish"

    Celestial eyes should be appreciated from above , and it is advisable to hold them in shallow water basin or bucket instead of big aquarium tank .
