The Standard of Chinese Goldfish Competition

Principle of Giving a Grade  (total up to 200 points):

(1) Figure (35')
Ⅰ. The fish's body should be propotionate , symmetrical and have approprite fat.(20')
Ⅱ. Scales should be intact , glossy and orderly , without any regrowth one .(15')
(2) Color (50')
Ⅰ. The color should be of purity and vividness .(20')
Ⅱ. Organized and even tinct.(10')
Ⅲ. Characteristic color.(10')
Ⅳ. Bright and soft coloration.(10')
(3) Attitude (20')
Ⅰ.Graceful attitude in swimming .(6')
Ⅱ.Fins are agile and unfolding while moveing.(6')
Ⅲ.Be able to keep balance while it is still and easy to sink or floate. (4')
Ⅳ.Bright and vivid eyes.
(4) Character (50')
Character of different breeds:
Pearlscale goldfish: The fish should have pointed head , protuberant mouth and ball-like deep body. The scales, from back to the caudal peduncle and tail , should be great, thick and orderly, without any disordered one . The caudal peduncle, "handle of the tail ", should be stong and powerful , and the head growth of the crown pearlscale must be upheave and plumpy.
bubble-eye: This aquatic animal should have a pair of big symmetrical bubbles. Its egg-shaped body should have round smooth back contour, nearly like a bow. It is also necessary to have a short body , stong caudal peduncle and eyes in rugular direct.
Tiger head: This kind of fish should have upheave and flourishing head growth, without any incompact excrescence. The Bow-like smooth back contour and proportionate body are also required . The snouthead should be flush with the head growth on the cheek .
Oranda and Lion head: It should have plumpy, thick and elastic head growth, commonly like the chrysanthemum, cap or mushroom. Short and strong body, orderly spreaded dorsal fin. Long , broad caudal fin is also in need.
White oranda with red cap (red cap oeanda): This breed have a white and softly glisten body. The head growth should be square , neat and in angry red. The opercle should be smooth or covered by flourishing head growth . It also should have orderly spreaded dorsal fin and long ,broad caudal fin.
Moor: The symmetrical protuberant eyes should be great and round . Propotionate body with order spread dorsal fin and long , broad caudal fin is very perfect.
Butterfly's tail : It should have a broad great tail, spreaded as a butterfly .The body should be short and round, and could keep balance while swimming.
Pompons: The fold tectums of flesh (have the same or discriminative color with body) should be round and well developed. It also need to be symmetrical and concentrated. Other characters should refer the same standard of interrelated breeds.
Celestial eye: The eyes should be great, round and symmetrical, regularly turn to the roof . Short and strong body is well.
Ranchu: A nice fish should have well developed head growth , deep strong body and powerful back. Its back contour should smoothy arched from the back of the head while caudal fin spreaded and turned upwards in a right angle. A pair of stern fins are also claimed.
Ryukin: Pointed head with protuberant snout, short and fat body, obvious humpback , which look like a triangle ,well spread dorsal fin are all very important factor.
Crucian crap: Plentiful, perfect color.
(5) Caudal fin and other fins(30')
Ⅰ.Size, proportion and completion of the fins. [including caudal fin, pectoral fin,pelvic fin, anal fin and drosal fin (except the sorts without drosal fin)].(20').
Ⅱ.Fins should be intact , symmertical and spreaded smoothly without any fold mark. The caudal fin shoud growed in a perfect angle.(10')
(6) Additional points(15')
It will be given for distinguishing feature, size, breed innovation, total impression and growth potential of the fish.
